Belagavi:An MSME Incubation Awareness Workshop was held at the AnuvartikMirjiBharateshInstituteofTechnologyIRISECenter (AMBIT-IRISE) in Belagavi. The program was jointly organised by the DistrictIndustriesCentre (DIC) and LaghuUdyogBharatiKarnatakaBelagaviUnit, with the support of the Department of Industries and Commerce, Directorate of MSME, KCTU, and TECSOK Bengaluru.

The event was designed to help entrepreneurs, innovators, and small business owners understand the range of incubation and startup support schemes available through the Government of Karnataka and the Central MSME Department. It brought together industry experts, startup founders, and government officials to discuss how new ventures can access funding, mentorship, and institutional support.

Empowering Local Entrepreneurs

The workshop opened with discussions on Belagavi’s rapidly expanding startup and MSME ecosystem.
Mahesh Inamdar, President of the Laghu Udyog Bharati Belagavi Unit, welcomed participants and spoke about the region’s growing reputation as a hub for small industries and innovation.
Satyanarayan Bhat, Joint Director of DIC Belagavi, outlined how the department has been consistently working to assist new ventures through financial incentives, subsidies, and incubation tie-ups.
Principal Veena Karchi of AMBIT shared how the institute, through its IRISE incubation center, is creating an environment where young minds can turn their technical knowledge into viable business ventures.

Government Schemes and Startup Opportunities

Deputy Director Bharat B from DIC Belagavi elaborated on flagship initiatives such as PMEGP, Udyam Registration, and Startup Karnataka, explaining the process through which entrepreneurs can access collateral-free loans, interest-linked subsidies, and innovation grants.

Entrepreneurs Ajit Patil of Rivot Motors and Girish Kulkarni shared their personal experiences of building successful ventures from Belagavi, emphasizing the importance of guidance, networking, and incubation support in early business stages.

The AMBIT-IRISE team showcased its incubation facilities and outlined the various programs designed to support startups — from technical mentoring and prototype assistance to business networking and access to government-linked funding.

At present, several emerging ventures such as Localview Tech Private Limited, Uila Tech LLP, Media Buddy, Shasta Global, and others are incubated at AMBIT-IRISE. These startups are taking advantage of the center’s infrastructure, expert mentorship, and collaborative environment to grow their businesses and strengthen their innovation capabilities.

Opportunities for MSMEs

Participants gained valuable insights into how micro, small, and medium enterprises can:

Secure PMEGP and CGTMSE loans without the need for collateral.

Register under Udyam to qualify for government incentives and subsidies.

Use AMBIT-IRISE facilities for mentorship, product development, and investor readiness.

Benefit from Skill India and Digital MSME programs to enhance productivity and adopt modern technology.

Engage with Laghu Udyog Bharati Karnataka for policy advocacy and business networking.

Belagavi’s Growing Startup Ecosystem

Belagavi continues to strengthen its position as one of Karnataka’s most promising innovation hubs. With a strong base of educational institutions, manufacturing industries, and an active entrepreneurial community, the city is becoming a preferred destination for startups outside Bengaluru.

The collaboration between DIC Belagavi, AMBIT-IRISE, and industrial bodies is fostering a healthy ecosystem where new ideas are being nurtured into scalable enterprises. This aligns closely with India’s larger vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 — encouraging self-reliant growth led by technology, innovation, and youth entrepreneurship.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Gomatesh Ravanavar, Administrator of AMBIT-IRISE, who highlighted the importance of continuous cooperation between academia, industry, and government institutions to build a stronger innovation-driven future for Belagavi.
