Byre Gowda Criticizes Central Govt: Drought Relief Funds Fall Short for Karnataka

Krishna Byre Gowda, the Minister for Revenue in Karnataka, has voiced deep concern over the inadequate allocation of drought relief funds by the central government. 

In light of the central government's approval of only ₹3498 crore out of the requested ₹18171.44 crore under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF),Gowda highlighted the severity of the situation facing the state. Gowda emphasized the gravity of the drought situation, noting that 223 out of 240 talukas in Karnataka are currently affected. He underscored the urgent need for substantial support to mitigate the wide-ranging impact of the drought on agriculture, livelihoods, and overall socio-economic stability in the state. 

 Expressing disappointment over the disparity between the requested and sanctioned funds, Gowda called for a more robust and responsive approach to addressing natural disasters. He stressed the importance of timely and sufficient assistance to affected communities, emphasizing the critical role of government support in facilitating long-term recovery and resilience-building efforts.
