In a significant move to improve transparency and curb misuse, Indian Railways has announced that starting July 1, 2025, only users with Aadhaar authentication will be allowed to book Tatkal train tickets on the IRCTC platform.
This step is aimed at ensuring fair access to urgent travel bookings and reducing the influence of agents and bots. As part of the new policy, agents will be blocked from booking Tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of the opening window, giving genuine passengers a better chance.
Railway authorities hope this change will make the Tatkal system more secure, fair, and user-friendly for the common public. Passengers are encouraged to link and authenticate their Aadhaar with their IRCTC accounts at the earliest to avoid any inconvenience.
