Bengaluru : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of Karnataka spoke today about the importance of promoting the Kannada language and culture in the state. He made these comments while launching the logo for Karnataka Sambhrama-50, an event organized by the Department of Kannada and Culture to commemorate the 50th anniversary of renaming Mysuru State as Karnataka.
Siddaramaiah stressed the need for an environment where Kannada is spoken and considered indispensable in Karnataka. He expressed concern about the lack of Kannada implementation in the state's administration, attributing it to negligence.
The Chief Minister also addressed the growing popularity of the English language and urged the use of Kannada in administration, as it has been the official language for many years.
Siddaramaiah shared the historical significance of Karnataka's unification in 1956 and its renaming in 1973. He expressed disappointment that the previous government did not celebrate the 50th anniversary of Karnataka's renaming as it should have been.
The Chief Minister praised the logo designed by Raviraj.G. Hulaguru for the Karnataka Sambhrama-50 event.
The Karnataka Sambhrama event will be celebrated for one year, starting from November 1, 2023, with the goal of raising awareness about the Kannada language among the people.
