Karnataka Chief Minister Calls for Unity Amidst Cauvery Water Shortage

Bengaluru :In a crucial address at a meeting in Delhi, Karnataka's Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, called for unity among political parties to tackle the severe shortage of Cauvery water in the state. He highlighted the dire situation, with only 53 TMC of water left for various essential needs, emphasizing that there was no water to spare for Tamil Nadu.

Siddaramaiah stressed that the focus should be on protecting the state's interests, including its water, land, language, and culture, putting aside political differences. He explained the necessity of the Mekedatu scheme to store and manage water resources efficiently.

The Chief Minister revealed that they had twice written to the Union Jalshakti Minister, seeking a meeting to discuss the crisis comprehensively. He underlined the importance of addressing the issue based on scientific facts and called on all MPs and Rajya Sabha members to stand together in representing the state's demands to the Union Ministers in Delhi.

In the face of this challenging situation, Siddaramaiah and his team have presented the state's predicament effectively before the CWMA (Cauvery Water Management Authority) and stressed the need for central support to resolve the water crisis and safeguard Karnataka's interests.
