New Delhi: In a historic move aimed at empowering the youth of the nation and fostering youth-led development, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its nod to the creation of an autonomous body known as "Mera Yuva Bharat" or MY Bharat. This transformative initiative seeks to serve as a comprehensive platform powered by technology, providing equitable access to resources and opportunities for the country's young population.
Empowering Youth for Nation-Building:
The primary objective of MY Bharat is to establish a "whole of Government" platform for youth development, bridging the gap between the government and its young citizens. Under this new arrangement, the youth are envisioned to become catalysts for community change and nation-building, acting as the vital link, or "Yuva Setu," between the government and the people. The initiative is set to harness the abundant energy of the youth in the pursuit of nation-building goals.
Key Details:
MY Bharat will target youth within the age group of 15-29 years, in alignment with the definition of 'Youth' as outlined in the National Youth Policy. In cases where specific programs are tailored for adolescents, beneficiaries in the age group of 10-19 years will be included.
The establishment of MY Bharat is poised to bring about several transformative changes:
1. Leadership Development in Youth:The initiative will focus on enhancing the leadership skills of young individuals through experiential learning, shifting from isolated physical interactions to programmatic skills. The goal is to nurture social innovators and community leaders among the youth.
2.Youth-Led Development:The government's spotlight will be firmly on promoting youth-led development, making the youth active drivers of development rather than passive recipients. This shift aims to align youth aspirations with the needs of their communities.
3.Efficiency Through Convergence:Existing programs will be streamlined and made more efficient, enhancing the overall impact of youth-focused initiatives.
4.One-Stop Hub for Youth:MY Bharat will act as a central hub for young people and various ministries, simplifying access to government resources and services.
5.Centralized Youth Database:The initiative will create a centralized database to better understand and address the needs and aspirations of the youth.
6.Improved Two-Way Communication:Enhancements in communication will connect youth with government initiatives and activities undertaken by other stakeholders involved in youth development.
7.Physical Ecosystem:MY Bharat will create a physical ecosystem to ensure accessibility for young individuals.
Guided by a Whole-of-Government Approach:
The establishment of MY Bharat comes at a time of rapid technological advancement and high-velocity communications in a changing world. This initiative is driven by the principles of a "whole of government approach" and seeks to empower and engage the nation's youth, harnessing their potential as active participants in the nation's development.
MY Bharat is poised to be a cornerstone in India's commitment to youth development and its aspirations for a brighter future. It reflects the government's dedication to fostering a generation of leaders and change-makers who will drive progress and innovation across the nation.
