Bangalore: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, hailing him as the "only Mahatma and father of the country" during the Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti program held at Gandhi Bhavan. Siddaramaiah emphasized Gandhi's remarkable ability to reach every corner of the world through non-violence and the simplicity of his life, all without modern technology or propaganda materials.
Siddaramaiah recounted a famous incident during Gandhi's travels, where a fellow passenger questioned why he was in the third-class train compartment. Gandhi's response was characteristic of his humility: "There is no fourth class in the train. If there was, I would have traveled there. As it's not available, I am traveling in the third class."
Highlighting the enduring relevance of Mahatma Gandhi's ideals, Siddaramaiah stated that the government's programs align with Gandhi's aspirations, aiming to provide life opportunities to even the most marginalized individuals. Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs H.K. Patil and other dignitaries were also in attendance, reinforcing the importance of Gandhi's legacy in today's world.
