Belagavi: District Collector Nitesh Patil launched the cycle jatha program organized by the Municipal Corporation at the city fort on Wednesday to create awareness about the revision of the voter list.
The cycle procession started from the city fort and proceeded through Sangolli Rayanna Circle, Channamma Circle, Dharmaveera Sambhaji Circle. The public was sensitized in the jatha about the short revision of the electoral roll.
District Collector Nitesh Patil told reporters that the voter list is being revised and released. Information will be published on all relevant websites. He informed that a copy will be given to the political parties as well.
This revision is being done in addition to the fact that there will be assembly elections in the month of March and April 2023. Draft voter list is being published against which objections can be filed. He said that the revised list will be published on January 5.
Voter Card Aadhaar Number Linking Allowance:
Aadhaar numbers are already linked to 80 percent voter cards. Aadhaar number linking of 20% voters who are not yet linked will be allowed. He said that no information has been received from the Election Commission regarding the cancellation of the registration of voters whose Aadhaar number is not linked, therefore no voter registration has been canceled without Aadhaar link.
There is an opportunity to apply for transfer of address, mobile number, voter card in Form 8 at home through voter helpline app. District Collector Nitesh Patil informed that there is no need for public to wander to the offices.
