A new law to prevent paper leaks and ensure fairness in central recruitment and entrance exams came into force on June 21, 2024. The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, aims to protect the integrity of public examinations across India.

A notification from the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions confirmed the enforcement of the law, appointing June 21, 2024, as the date on which the provisions of the Act came into force. The new law introduces strict penalties for those involved in unfair practices during exams, including fines and imprisonment. It applies to all central recruitment exams and entrance tests for central educational institutions.

This law responds to several recent cases of exam paper leaks, which have damaged the credibility of the examination process.

The government aims to restore confidence in the system and protect the future of students and job seekers. Officials have committed to enforcing the new law rigorously.

The Ministry has emphasized that any violations will be dealt with severely to maintain the sanctity of public examinations.
