The Karnataka Cabinet, led by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, has taken a decisive step to withdraw the consent granted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for probing the disproportionate assets case against Shivakumar. Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge accused the former BJP government of sanctioning the CBI investigation illegally, citing discrepancies in meeting the required criteria.

In a fervent statement, Kharge emphasized the alleged misuse of governmental guidelines by the BJP, asserting that Congress leaders were targeted under the guise of investigative agencies such as the CBI, Income Tax (IT),and Enforcement Directorate (ED). He highlighted government officers' communication stating the absence of a First Information Report (FIR) and their inability to provide the case to the CBI, claiming no ambiguity in the matter.

"Their own government officers had written saying that there's no FIR and they can't give it to the CBI. So, where's the ambiguity? It is completely politically motivated," Kharge emphasized, echoing the current administration's stance on the matter.

This move by the Karnataka Cabinet signals a contentious political dispute, underscoring the allegations of misusing governmental machinery for political purposes. As the debate intensifies, the withdrawal of CBI consent adds a new chapter to the ongoing legal and political tussle surrounding high-profile cases in Karnataka.
