New Delhi :In a significant decision, the GST Council has unanimously recommended revised tax rates for flour containing 70 percent millets by weight. The key highlights of this recommendation, announced by Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman following the 52nd GST Council Meeting in New Delhi, are as follows:

0% GST will be levied if sold loose

5 % GST will be levied if sold pre-packaged and labelled.

This decision reflects the government's commitment to encouraging the consumption of millets, which are known for their nutritional value and health benefits. The revised tax rates aim to facilitate the availability of millet-enriched flour to a wider audience while maintaining tax equity in both loose and packaged forms.
