After Aadhaar for People, Now Homes to Get Digital IDs Big Step Towards Smart Addressing in India
The Indian government is planning to give every home a unique digital ID, just like Aadhaar cards for people. This new system will fix the problem of confusing or incomplete addresses that cause delays in deliveries and online orders.

Led by the Department of Posts and overseen by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the project aims to be ready by the end of 2025. Each address will get a special digital code, which will make deliveries faster, improve location accuracy, and protect privacy.

With this system, addresses will be easy to find, safe to share, and help services like courier companies and food delivery apps work better. It’s another step toward making India more digital and connected, following the success of Aadhaar and UPI.
