The largest display of oil lamps record has been broken: GWR

The largest display of oil lamps record has been broken once again by the Department of Tourism, Government of Uttar Pradesh, District Administration, Ayodhya and Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University (India) on 23 October 2022.

A staggering 1,576,955 oil lamps were displayed on the eve of Diwali, a religious festival of lights, which is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains all around the world.

The current record holder even managed to beat their previous best of 941,551 achieved back in November 2021!

The attempt took place at Ram ki Paidi in Ayodhya, which is said to be the birthplace of the  God Rama. 

To create the display, the oil lamps were placed on the river banks in individual grids and then placed together to form the larger display. 

In total, nearly 100,000 devotees, locals and dignitaries coming together for this momentous occasion.

Keeping up with Diwali celebrations, the largest oil lamp was also broken over the weekend! Hero Realty (India) created this enormous oil lamp in Mohali, India with a volume of 3560.70 litres on 22 October 2022.
