Two Young Engineers from Karnataka Build AI-"Two Young Engineers from Karnataka Build AI-Driven Hydroponic Farm,
Meet Calvin Aranha and Farish Anfal — two engineer friends from Udupi who are changing the face of Indian farming.

After graduating from MITE, they decided to take a bold step and launched Krop AI, a startup that blends artificial intelligence with hydroponics to grow exotic crops like lettuce, kale, basil, and parsley — all without soil or sunlight, and using 95% less water.

It all started back in 2021, when they built their first prototype in a small flat in Udupi. Motivated by the real struggles faced by Indian farmers, they were determined to find smarter, more sustainable ways to grow food. Fast forward to today, and Krop AI is helping others do the same with AI-powered vertical farms that cut farming costs by 50% and bring in over ₹50 lakhs a year.

Their bigger mission? To make farming sustainable, profitable, and no longer dependent on the weather.
With backing from Startup India and Karnataka’s Elevate 2023 grant, Calvin and Farish are now scaling up fast — and have set their sights on hitting ₹3 crore in revenue this year.
The future of farming is here, and it's growing — one smart farm at a time.
