Andhra Pradesh :A stunning twist of events unfolded as former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief, N Chandrababu Naidu, found himself under arrest by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). This arrest is directly connected to the ongoing investigation into allegations of corruption surrounding the skill development scam, a case that has dominated headlines.
In an unexpected development, Naidu was not the sole individual apprehended. TDP MLA and former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, along with his son, Ganta Raviteja, also faced arrest in connection with the same scandal.
The dramatic arrest unfolded at RK Function Hall, where Naidu had taken refuge in his caravan. A substantial police presence, under the leadership of Nandyal range DIG Raghurami Reddy and the Crime Investigation Department (CID),promptly descended upon the location. In a remarkable show of solidarity, TDP supporters assembled in large numbers and initially resisted the police, even with SPG forces guarding the former Chief Minister.
Eventually, at approximately 6 am, the police successfully executed Naidu's arrest, and he is presently en route to Vijayawada. The charges against him are non-bailable and encompass a range of sections, including Sections 120(8),166, 167, 418, 420, 465, 468, 471, 409, 201, 109, r/w 34 & 37 IPC, along with other provisions outlined in the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Naidu's arrest closely follows his expressed concerns about personal safety during a public interaction held in Rayadurgam, Anantapur district. During that event, he even hinted at the possibility of facing an attack.
This development marks a pivotal moment in Andhra Pradesh's political landscape, with Naidu's arrest triggering shockwaves across the state's political circles and raising significant questions about the ongoing investigation into the skill development scam.
In Response to His Arrest, Chandrababu Naidu Tweeted:
My resolve remains unshaken. I am humbled by the outpouring of support and love from the people of Andhra Pradesh. Together, we will overcome these challenges and continue to work tirelessly for our beloved state. Jai Telugu Desam!".
For the past 45 years, I have selflessly served Telugu people. I am prepared to sacrifice my life to safeguard the interests of Telugu people. No force on earth can stop me from serving Telugu people, my #AndhraPradesh and my motherland.
