India’s Unemployment Rate Climbs to 5.6% in May Women Hit Harder Than Men

India's unemployment rate saw a sharp increase in May, rising to 5.6% from 5.2% in April, as per government data released on June 16. The latest figures reveal that women continue to be disproportionately affected, with the female unemployment rate reaching 5.7%, up from 5% the previous month. In comparison, male unemployment also rose, touching 5.6% from April’s 5.1%. The data reflects growing concerns over job opportunities and gender disparities in the employment sector.
