BJP Rises Against Wakf Board Land Grabs,Major Protests to Hit Belagavi
Belagavi: BJP leader MB Jirali expressed strong criticism against the Congress-led Karnataka government, accusing it of making irresponsible decisions concerning the Wakf Board that have negatively impacted farmers, schools, and other entities. Jirali revealed that BJP leaders recently visited Vijaypur to investigate the challenges faced by farmers due to land acquisitions by the Wakf Board. A detailed 25-page report has been submitted on the issue.
According to Jirali, the Wakf Board is allegedly creating illegal documents to acquire lands from individuals. While the government has issued notices regarding these activities, it has failed to make firm decisions or implement relief measures, leaving many without the necessary mutation changes or protection.
He further stated that the state government has made false promises, particularly due to the upcoming elections in Maharashtra. In response, the BJP is committed to applying pressure on the state government through the Namma Bhoomi, Namma Hakku initiative aimed at securing justice for affected citizens.
The BJP has begun traveling across Karnataka to assess these issues firsthand and offer support. On November 22, a full-day strike will be held in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office to highlight the problem. Additionally, during the winter session of Parliament in Belagavi, BJP leaders, including BS Yediyurappa and other top members, plan to stage a significant protest.
Jirali urged all farmers and citizens to review their land documents for any unauthorized changes or discrepancies. He assured that the BJP is ready to assist and fight for justice. A team of five has been formed to handle this matter and ensure that affected lands are returned to their rightful owners.
Jirali concluded, We will continue this fight until justice is served and the rights of common people are protected.
BJP leaders Anil Benake, Sanjay Patil, Subhas Patil, and others were present in support of this initiative.
