CM's Aggressive Stand: No Room for Negligence After Attibele Blaze

Bengaluru:In response to the Attibele Fire Cracker incident, the Chief Minister held a meeting with senior officers and took several important actions:

1. The Chief Minister directed officials to conduct spot inspections of all license holders across the state and to take strict action against those found violating safety measures.

2. As a result of the Attibele incident, the CM directed the suspension of the Tahasildar, Inspector, and Regional Fire Officer.
Other highlights of the meeting included:
The Circle Inspector submitted a report with photographs, which was forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner by the Superintendent of Police.
The Deputy Commissioner granted the license based on these reports and also obtained a report from the Tahasildar.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for utmost caution when issuing licenses under the explosive act and questioned who was responsible for the 14 lives lost.
He instructed officers to ensure that all safety measures and conditions are met before issuing licenses.
The CM also called for inspections of safety measures in all firecracker shops and directed the Deputy Commissioner and SP to conduct spot inspections when granting licenses.
It was noted that permits were not given for godowns, only for selling firecrackers.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to conduct spot inspections at firecracker shops and godowns statewide and take action against those not complying with safety guidelines.
In Bengaluru city, licenses are issued for 5 years with NOCs from multiple departments. The CM directed officials to seek amendments to these rules to enhance safety.
He emphasized vigilance in the transport of firecrackers in the Attibele-Hosur border area and compliance with Supreme Court orders on firecracker usage, promoting the sale of green firecrackers.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar suggested banning firecrackers at political congregations and marriage processions for safety reasons.
Various high-ranking officials, including the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries, Commissioners, and Political Secretaries, were present at the meeting to address these critical issues.
