Congress Launches Save Constitution Campaign Ahead of Elections

The Indian National Congress has kicked off a major campaign titled ‘Save Constitution’, aimed at countering what it calls growing threats to democratic values under the current BJP-led government. The campaign will run from April 25 to May 30, and is expected to cover all states across the country.

Party leaders said the campaign will take place in four phases starting with state level conventions, followed by district meetings, outreach at assembly-level constituencies, and finally, a door-to-door public awareness drive.

Congress claims the initiative is not just a political move, but an effort to highlight issues like misuse of central agencies, the National Herald case, and what they allege is an attempt to undermine the Constitution. The party has accused the BJP of spreading misinformation and using legal tactics to suppress opposition voices.

Top Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, are expected to participate in the campaign events and address public gatherings to rally support.

The BJP has not officially responded, but sources say the ruling party views the move as an attempt to gain lost ground before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
