Deputy CM Shivakumar Demands Fair Share: We Deserve More

Delhi:Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar led a robust demonstration in Delhi, alongside MLAs, MLCs, and MPs from the Karnataka Congress party.

Deputy CM Shivakumar minced no words, asserting, "We are asking for our rights, we are getting only 13% of what we are supposed to get," underscoring the perceived inequity in central fund allotments to the state. Notably, he stressed the non-partisan nature of the protest, urging all political representatives from Karnataka to stand united in championing the state's rightful share.

The protest's key demands centered on boosting funds for critical sectors such as irrigation, infrastructure, and drought relief, as well as advocating for transparent and equitable resource allocation based on established formulas. Furthermore, concerns about alleged bias against Karnataka in fund distribution were brought to the forefront.

This demonstration unfolds against a backdrop of escalating tensions between the Congress-led Karnataka government and the BJP-led central administration. The Congress accuses the BJP of neglecting Karnataka's development needs due to political differences, while the BJP contends that the state has received more funds under its tenure than under previous Congress governments.
