Hebbalkar, set to nominate his candidacy, received staunch backing from Shivakumar during a joint rally in Belagavi. Shivakumar, addressing the gathering, launched a scathing attack on the recently unveiled BJP manifesto, asserting that it lacked credibility and would not yield the success achieved by Congress.
He particularly emphasized Prime Minister Modi's unfulfilled promises, notably regarding the retrieval of black money, which he deemed as a failure. Expressing solidarity with the farming community, Shivakumar condemned BJP for its alleged negligence towards farmers' welfare, citing the contentious agricultural laws that led to unfortunate farmer casualties.
He lambasted BJP for its inability to fulfill previous manifesto pledges and dismissed the feasibility of its latest promises. Refuting claims made by Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman regarding COVID-19 relief expenditure, Shivakumar demanded transparency and accountability, urging for a detailed breakdown of expenses.
He also criticized BJP's handling of the late Central Minister Suresh Angadi's remains, accusing the party of failing to bring Angadi's body to Belagavi. In a bold assertion, Shivakumar declared BJP's imminent defeat in the upcoming elections, challenging JDS leader Kumaraswamy's prospects as well. He rallied women across India, from all communities and political affiliations, to oppose Kumaraswamy's controversial statements regarding the Shakti Yojana.
The press meet culminated with Shivakumar's resounding call for unity among citizens to hold politicians accountable and ensure genuine progress and welfare for all.
