Kittur Utsav: A Tribute to 200 Years of Valor and Heroism

Kittur:The grand celebration of the 200th Kittur Vijayotsava, known as Kittur Utsav, took place today, honoring the brave resistance led by Queen Rani Chennamma against British colonial rule. Moreover, The event highlighted the significance of Kittur’s rich history, with tributes paid to the valor and leadership of Rani Chennamma and her loyal soldiers, including the legendary warrior Sangolli Rayanna.

Speaking at the event, Satish Jarkiholi praised the courage of Rani Chennamma and the sacrifice of the warriors, calling their bravery a proud part of Karnataka’s heritage. He also mentioned how this land has produced some of the greatest leaders, such as Basavanna and Mahatma Gandhi, whose legacies continue to inspire the people of Karnataka.

As part of the celebrations, a commemorative stamp, released a few days earlier to mark the 200th anniversary, was unveiled during the function. Moreover, The stamp honors the memory of Queen Rani Chennamma and the soldiers who fought for freedom, symbolizing the spirit of resistance that Kittur represents.
