KPCC Positions Aren’t for Sale or Media Demands, Says DK Shivakumar
Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar strongly responded to questions about the KPCC leadership change, stating, “Positions in KPCC are neither available in shops nor granted through media demands.”

Speaking to reporters at the Kempegowda International Airport and Vidhana Soudha premises on Thursday, Shivakumar addressed questions regarding the KPCC president post. He said, “The party leadership recognizes and rewards the hard work we do. Does anyone demand positions through the media? This is a new kind of question I’m hearing.”

He further clarified that any significant party-related developments would be officially announced through press briefings. “Right now, our focus is on strengthening and growing the party. Discipline within the party is paramount, as advised by our Chief Minister and the General Secretaries. They have strictly directed us to avoid public discussions on internal matters,” he added.

Speaking Through Media Is Futile:Shivakumar emphasized that internal party matters should not be discussed in public. “Regardless of the party—be it Congress, BJP, JDS, or any organization—internal issues must be resolved within. If I aspire for any position, will you (the media) grant it to me? Or are these positions available for purchase? Speaking publicly about such issues is counterproductive and often backfires,” he stated.
The Party Is Bigger Than Individuals:Shivakumar reminded everyone that Congress’s strength lies in its workers and voters. “This party hasn’t been built solely by DK Shivakumar. It’s the collective effort of our workers and the faith of the voters. Congress has a legacy and the resilience to endure no matter who stays or leaves. Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Ambedkar made immense sacrifices for the country without seeking power. We must remember their contributions and prioritize the party over personal ambitions,” he remarked, urging everyone with concerns to discuss them with the party high command.
Don’t Question Mallikarjun Kharge’s Leadership:When asked about MLA Satish Jarkiholi’s statement that Congress needs a full-time president, Shivakumar diplomatically said, “It is not my place to respond. This matter concerns AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, and such questions should be directed to him. Challenging his decisions is inappropriate.”
He concluded by stating that the Congress party is focused on organizing events like the “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Constitution” convention, which senior leader Surjewala is scheduled to review in Belagavi on Friday. “For any further questions, you can address them to him,” Shivakumar advised.
