Bengaluru :Chief Minister Siddaramaiah delivered a powerful message on the importance of education during the inauguration of Banjara Bhawan, a key milestone in the Golden Jubilee celebrations organized by Karnataka Pradesh Banjara (Lambani) Seva Sangh in collaboration with Karnataka Tanda Development Corporation.

In his address, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah highlighted how education plays a pivotal role in granting independence and liberating individuals from exploitation. He noted that educational opportunities significantly expanded after the British era and credited Dr. B.R. Ambedkar for ensuring education as a fundamental right for all marginalized communities.

"Education makes us self-respecting. If you have self-respect, you can escape from exploitation," Siddaramaiah emphasized, underlining the transformative potential of education.
The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to list several contributions made by the Congress government in the development of the Banjara community. He proudly stated that his government had provided assistance to Sevalal Mutt, celebrated Sevalal Jayanti, and successfully converted Tandas into revenue villages. He further pledged to continue this progress by converting an additional 5,000 Tandas into revenue villages.
Expressing frustration with political opponents, Siddaramaiah humorously remarked that the BJP's claims regarding these achievements were akin to the saying, "Attikkidavaringinta Bottikkidavaru Melu."
The government allocated a substantial budget of 275 crore for the development of the Banjara community, with the Chief Minister assuring continued financial support for other community demands, including the establishment of a Sevalal residential school.
The program witnessed the presence of prominent dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who inaugurated the event. The statue of Sewalal was unveiled by Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Rudrappa Manappa Lamani, while Social Welfare Minister Dr. H.C Mahadevappa inaugurated the Banjara Handicraft Exhibition.
Several political figures, including MLC Prakash Rathod, MLAs Nemiraja Naik, Avinash Jadhav, and key members of the Banjara Seva Sangh, such as General Secretary H.B. Siddya Naik, and Ex-MLA B.T. LalithaNayak, attended the event.
