Siddaramaiah Will Not Resign as Chief Minister, Says Minister Satish Jarkiholi
Belagavi: Minister Satish Jarkiholi has made it clear that Siddaramaiah will not resign from his position as Chief Minister, dismissing the claims made by the BJP. Jarkiholi emphasised that the party fully supports Siddaramaiah, and there is no question of him stepping down.
On other matters, Jarkiholi spoke about the financial crisis in the Belagavi Municipal Corporation, where the court has ordered a deposit of ₹20 crore. He pointed out that the financial mismanagement by previous officials needs to be properly investigated by the government.
He also raised concerns about the misallocation of funds, especially the burden of roadwork projects under the Smart City initiative being unfairly placed on the Municipal Corporation. Jarkiholi criticised the legal department for not representing the Corporation in court, attributing this to political pressure.
Regarding the investigation into fixed meal charges, where each meal was reportedly fixed at ₹30,000 to ₹35,000, Jarkiholi confirmed that the Deputy Commissioner is looking into the matter and strict action will be taken. He also mentioned that he would bring this issue to the attention of the relevant minister.
Jarkiholi clarified that he did not agree with the decisions made in the Municipal Corporation yesterday, noting that the court’s order is currently under discussion. He also highlighted that ₹8 crore in GST funds have not been paid and that only 40% of the required revenue has been collected.
