New delhi :In a move that is likely to have a significant impact on the Indian political landscape, ten Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs have resigned from their seats in Parliament to focus on their newly elected roles in their respective State Assemblies.

The decision was taken following a meeting with BJP national president JP Nadda and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The MPs who have resigned are:

Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Singh Patel, Rakesh Singh, Uday Pratap and Riti Pathak – from Madhya Pradesh
Arun Sao and Gomati Sai – from Chhattisgarh
Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Diya Kumari and Kirodi Lal Meena – from Rajasthan
The MPs have cited their desire to serve their constituents at the state level as the reason for their resignations. They have expressed their gratitude to the BJP leadership for the opportunity to serve in Parliament and have pledged to continue working for the party in their new roles.
The resignations are likely to trigger by-elections in the affected constituencies. The BJP is expected to hold on to these seats, as it enjoys a strong majority in all three states.
The move is seen as a strategic decision by the BJP to strengthen its hold on state governments. By focusing on their state-level responsibilities, these MPs will be able to build stronger relationships with their constituents and address their concerns more effectively.
This development is also likely to have implications for the upcoming 2024 general elections. The BJP is hoping that by strengthening its presence at the state level, it will be able to maintain its dominance in national politics.
