Belagavi:Rajkumar Topannavar expressed strong condemnation towards derogatory remarks directed at Laxmi Hebbalkar by leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Belagavi.

Topannavar, known for his vocal advocacy on social and political issues, raised serious concerns about the mindset of BJP leaders, juxtaposing their actions with the party's purported commitment to providing 33.3% reservation for women.

The cheap remarks against Laxmi Hebbalkar are not only an insult to her but also to the women of the Lingayat community. This behaviour is shameful, remarked Topannavar, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
Hebbalkar, a prominent figure in Karnataka politics and a member of the Indian National Congress (INC),has been the target of disparaging comments from certain BJP leaders in Belagavi.Such remarks not only undermine her dignity but also reflect poorly on the values purportedly upheld by the BJP. Topannavar's criticism extends beyond the individuals involved, addressing the broader implications of such behavior within the political arena. By invoking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he draws attention to the dissonance between the BJP's rhetoric of empowerment and the reality of its actions.
The incident underscores the importance of maintaining civility and respect in political discourse, particularly towards women leaders. Topannavar's statement serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to uphold the principles of equality and dignity, irrespective of political affiliations.
