UGC Chairman Promotes Malaviya Mission for Teacher Training

Prof. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC),recently spoke about the positive changes brought by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
He explained how the policy aims to provide students with a broad and well-rounded education, combining different subjects and practical skills to help them get good jobs. He emphasised the importance of reaching students from rural areas and those from less privileged backgrounds.
Using digital technology, the goal is to make sure these students also get access to quality education. To increase the number of students who can attend college, Prof. Kumar urged universities to open more off-campus center. This will help more students get the opportunity to pursue higher education.
Additionally, the UGC has started the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme.This program will train around 1.5 million teachers to improve the quality of education they provide. The aim is to ensure that teachers are well-prepared to teach their students effectively.
